Front Door Series #9

This charming period Craftsman home is in my immediate neighborhood and we pass by often.  The slim panels with beveled glass adds some interest to the substantial wood door, which is most probably original to the house.  This home faces east so the front porch is in deep shade in the late afternoon with a…

Front Door Series #8

A few weeks ago we were touring the gardens for the 46th Annual South Pasadena Garden Tour and came across this lovely door that I had to share with you.  The tile surround is a stunning complement to this understated wood door.  It provides that much needed pop of color and pattern against the simple…

Front Door Series #7

Another red door.  What can I say?  I love red!  This color scheme and feel is very similar to Front Door #5, with a darker gray for the house color and simple landscaping.  A cute little Fiat is always parked in front of the house.  How divine! *Tina

Front Door Series #6

Red is my favorite color and therefore, I have a fondness for red doors.  I pass this house on my way home every day.  The exterior is simple yet elegant, but the colorful door and decorative canopy provide a welcoming entrance to this beautiful home. *Tina

The lush landscape leads the eye up to the front door.  There is just enough greenery around the door to soften it and welcome you.  The wreath and flag are wonderful additions and adds the personal touch.  With the heat wave we have been experiencing as of late, the approach to this front door is shady…

I have always loved red and especially red doors.  This red door takes this façade from bland to distinctive.  It is unexpected, but necessary to make this front entrance warm and inviting.  The brass hardware also makes a mark by providing a lovely contrast to the red door.  Simple and refined.  Love it! *Tina

Photography Monday: Front Door Series #2

I was sorting through photos to scrapbook and found this photo from the 2012 South Pasadena Garden Tour.  I didn’t take that many garden photos because I must not have been amazed by what I saw.  But, this front door is fabulous!  I love the hinges and that is what makes this door spectacular. …

Photography Monday: Front Door Series #1

I apologize for being silent for a few weeks, but life has been hectic.  And, the Tour de France was in progress so that took precedence.  Vive le Tour!  In my short hiatus, I formulated a few new series that I want to implement.  As one that loves and appreciates architecture, I wanted to…
