Photography Monday: St. Peter’s Basilica

We spent a week in Rome, but seeing the Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Basilica was always at the top of the list.  We spent the entire day at the Vatican property with thousands of tourists.  We used the tips found on this site to get the most out of our visit.

Seeing these architectural masterpieces were very important to me because GianLorenzo Bernini is my favorite artist, sculptor and architect from the Baroque period.  His contribution to the church as we see it today is greater than that of any other artist, including Michelangelo.  His mastery of scale is beyond comparison.  Regardless of your religious affiliations, you must take the time to visit the Vatican property because you will see some of the best art and architecture in Rome.

Next week, I will post some of my favorite random photos of Rome.
