Photography Monday: Mount Vernon

On our last trip to Washington, D.C., we visited Mount Vernon, George Washington’s home for more than 40 years.  It is located about 16 miles south of Washington, D.C. with the plantation situated along the Potomac River in Northern Virginia.

George Washington’s plantation offers you a chance to understand America’s first hero and the fascinating world in which he lived.  We must thank the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association, who had the vision to purchase the nearly empty mansion in 1858 and lovingly restore it to what we see today.  For more information about Mount Vernon, please visit this site.

Next week, I will share photos of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
