Photography Monday: Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden Part III

Founded as an educational resource for the Cal State University Long Beach campus and community, the garden advances the university’s ongoing interest in international education and student engagement.  The garden is a combination of typical elements of Japanese garden design, the Southern California location and the vision of its founder.

The serenity of the lake is captivating.

The contrast of the trees and rocks against the smooth, glassy lake is masterful.

The undulating path adds interest to the garden.

The pop of color is welcome in this viewpoint.

This pagoda structure adds height and texture to the garden.

The founder’s vision was for the viewer to come away from the garden feeling lighter, more peaceful and free from the problems of the everyday world.  That wish is definitely achievable in viewing this magnificent garden and we thank her for sharing her vision with us.
